The short version

GTA 6 Online has no release date. GTA 6 launches on 19 November 2026 as a single player game. The only public timing came from Twitch chief executive Dan Clancy, who told Bloomberg on 17 September 2026 he expects multiplayer next year. Rockstar hasn't confirmed that.

Quick answer

When does GTA 6 Online come out?

There is no announced date. GTA 6 launches on 19 November 2026 without an online mode. The only public timing came from Twitch chief executive Dan Clancy, who told Bloomberg on 17 September 2026 that he expects a bigger boost next year when Rockstar launches multiplayer. Rockstar hasn't confirmed that.

The clearest clue about GTA 6 Online didn't come from Rockstar. It came from the head of Twitch. On 17 September 2026 Dan Clancy told Bloomberg he expects GTA 6 to drive a jump in viewers at launch, and an even bigger one "next year" when multiplayer arrives.

That points to 2027. But Clancy runs a streaming site, not the game, and Rockstar has said nothing about timing.

Is there a GTA 6 Online release date?

No. As of 12 October 2026, neither Rockstar nor Take Two has announced when, or in what form, an online mode will arrive. Take Two's preorder announcement describes GTA 6 as "a single player experience" launching on 19 November.

What has been said about GTA 6 Online timing?

Source	What was said	Weight
Take Two, June 2026	GTA 6 features a single player experience	Publisher
Take Two, to Game Rant	Will continue to support GTA Online after GTA 6 and beyond	Publisher
Strauss Zelnick, August 2026 call	Expects to keep supporting GTA Online going forward	Publisher
Dan Clancy, Twitch, September 2026	Expects multiplayer next year	Partner expectation
Employment tribunal filings	Staff referred to an online 32 player format	Reported, unconfirmed

The Take Two line comes via Game Rant, which also reported the tribunal detail and noted the filing doesn't name GTA 6 Online. Zelnick's comment is in the Motley Fool transcript. The Verge and Vice Heist also covered Clancy's remark.

How long did GTA Online take after GTA 5?

Two weeks. GTA 5 launched on 17 September 2013, and GTA Online followed on 1 October 2013. This time the gap is already longer, because no online mode ships on 19 November at all.

That history explains why fans expected online on day one. It doesn't predict GTA 6.

Why would Rockstar wait?

Rockstar hasn't explained its plan, so any answer is an inference. One fact is plain. The current GTA Online is still earning, still getting big updates such as the Kortz Center Heist in July 2026, and Take Two says it will keep supporting it.
