Some players have spent a decade building a GTA Online empire. Rockstar hasn't said a word about moving any of it into GTA 6. No transfer of characters, GTA$, properties or vehicles has been announced.

The good news is that nothing is being taken away either. Take Two told Game Rant it will continue to support GTA Online after GTA 6 releases and beyond.

What did the 2022 migration do?

It moved players between consoles, inside the same game. From 15 March 2022, PS4 and Xbox One players could make a one time migration to PS5 or Xbox Series X|S, carrying characters, GTA$, progression, vehicles, properties, weapons and clothing, according to the PlayStation Blog.

There were limits. Rockstar Support says unspent purchased GTA$ couldn't cross console families, and progress made afterwards on each generation didn't sync.

Is the 2022 migration a sign for GTA 6?

No. That was GTA 5 moving to new hardware. GTA 6 is a new game with a new map and new economy, and Rockstar has never moved GTA Online progress into a sequel. Treat any claim of a confirmed transfer as false until Rockstar posts it.

Should you keep spending in GTA Online?

Spend on what you enjoy now. Take Two chief executive Strauss Zelnick said on the August call that the company expects to keep supporting GTA Online, per the Motley Fool transcript. Buying Shark Cards as an investment in GTA 6 is a bet with nothing behind it.
