No GTA 6 on PS4, and no GTA Online there since December 2024.
The short version
No. GTA 6 is only announced for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, so any GTA 6 Online will be too. Rockstar also ended GTA Online on PS4 and Xbox One on 16 December 2024, so PS4 has no current GTA Online either.
Quick answer
Is GTA 6 Online on PS4?
No. GTA 6 is announced only for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, so any online mode will be on those consoles. Rockstar also shut down GTA Online on PS4 and Xbox One on 16 December 2024, so PS4 has no current GTA Online either. A PS5 or Xbox Series X|S is needed.
PS4 owners lost GTA Online almost two years before GTA 6 arrives. Rockstar ended it on PS4 and Xbox One on 16 December 2024. GTA 6 doesn't bring it back, because GTA 6 isn't on PS4 at all.
Rockstar Support lists GTA 6 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S only.
Which consoles run GTA 6 and GTA Online?
| Console | GTA 6 | Current GTA Online |
|---|---|---|
| PS4 | No | Ended Dec 2024 |
| PS5 | Yes | Yes |
| Xbox One | No | Ended Dec 2024 |
| Xbox Series X|S | Yes | Yes |
Rockstar had started winding down the old versions earlier in 2024, removing the Rockstar Editor from them in February, as IGN reported.
Can you move a PS4 character to PS5?
Yes, through Rockstar's migration tool. Since 15 March 2022, players have been able to make a one time migration of GTA Online progress from PS4 or Xbox One to PS5 or Xbox Series X|S, per the PlayStation Blog.
Rockstar Support says you can start it from the GTA Online landing page or the pause menu. Purchased GTA$ only moves within the same console family.
Will GTA 6 come to PS4 later?
Nothing suggests it. Rockstar's platform list hasn't changed since preorders opened, and the company has already left the PS4 behind for GTA Online.
What should PS4 owners do?
Plan for a PS5 or an Xbox Series X|S before 19 November if you want to play at launch. Whether anything from your GTA Online character carries into GTA 6 is covered in GTA 5 progress transfer, and the platform checker shows what works on your setup.
